Course Summary
Primum non nocere. “First, do no harm.”
Patient, or client, safety is one of the greatest challenges and priorities of the United States healthcare system. A 2018 study by Johns Hopkins indicates that medical errors cause more than 250,000 deaths annually in the United States, making it the third leading cause of death behind heart disease and cancer.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) does not track medical errors or infections, so the incidence of medical errors is estimated. Even when using conservative figures and estimates, medical errors take more lives than breast cancer, suicide, or AIDS (separately).
Deaths and injuries from medical errors are largely preventable. Through education and awareness, we can reduce the number of medical errors and untimely deaths.
This course covers medical errors that occur not only in a medical setting, but in a massage clinic or spa. In Prevention of Medical Errors, we discuss measures you can take to protect your clients, your business, and yourself.
